The origins of the DiSC model started with Dr. William Marston and were researched and updated over time. The concept of four styles and emotional responses to their environment is the basis that many providers use. The Everything DiSC® model helps people understand they use all four dimensions in varying degrees, and that there is no preferred behavioral style.
Generally, an individual’s style remains the same, i.e. DiSC®….over time. Using the Everything DiSC® circumplex model, you may notice that the intensity changes at times. This depends on how the individual perceives their environment and situation at the time of completing the assessment.
An example of this is an individual contributor promoted to Supervisor.
If their style is ID, they may shift their style to meet the demands of the role and respond more assertively (D tendency) when needed. Their style is the same, but they now use D tendencies more often to get results at a faster pace.

There are two things to keep in mind when using 363 for Leaders. The objective and the follow-up. What is the objective? Benchmark or is behavioral change needed? Will coaching be part of the process? If individual will be supported with coaching sessions, then it may require an initial profile and a second profile in 10 to 12 months following a series of coaching sessions. Change takes time and is best with both feedback and support from inside and outside perspectives.
The follow-up profile provides an opportunity to review how behavior change is perceived and increase commitment to growing as a leader.
