How Do I Motivate an Employee?

Employees who are not motivated have an impact on others.

Use DiSC® Management report to motivate people who don’t seem very motivated

Your Everything DiSC® Management profile is a rich resource to help you understand some of the complexities of motivation.  We are all motivated by either intrinsic or extrinsic needs.   People who don’t seem motivated may be boredom or feel uncertain about skills needed.  If they have the skill and knowledge to perform the task, then an additional factor is determining how they can use their talents to meet desired objectives.

Your Everything DiSC® Management profile includes sections for Directing & Delegating, Motivation, and Developing Others.  It will help you understand how your unique style and approach to directing and delegation works each DiSC® style.

How does each style prefer to receive direction?  “D” style team members like challenging tasks and move quickly so they can check off each task and move to the next.  If your team member is an “I” style, give them an opportunity to shine and work in an environment where they can utilize their excellent people skills. The environment is very important to the “S” style team member as they prefer to stability with routines and maintaining successful relationships.

Once you identify how each style responds differently to delegation, you can refer to the section, Motivation and learn strategies for improving employee motivation and developing the full potential of people with various DiSC® styles
